Along with being the only hotel in Southern California to have been rated a Forbes Five-Star since 1993, this rooftop is the only one to give guests the quaint feeling of a relaxed family BBQ while still being centered in Beverly Hills. And, with signature cocktail such as the “OM” made up of organic coconut and lychee, or the more adventurous “Speckled Jalapeno Margarita” which mixes together Patron Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier, lime, and jalapenos paired with a fire pit and Chef Codney’s classics, truly there is no equal.

Resting sixteen stories about Downtown Los Angeles, this rooftop gives a 360 degree view of the beautiful city we have come to know as La La Land – and being complete with a French inspired bistro, fire-pit lounges, and live jazz, who are we to say otherwise? The Perch is the only rooftop that will be having you desiring a Writer’s Block and … a French Maid? These are only two of their signature cocktails; the first being made up of Grey Goose La Piore Vodka, St Germain, lemon, and Sparkling Wine, and the second being of Park VS Cognac, lemon, cucumber, and fresh mint. These hand-crafted cocktails will have the feeling of a Midnight in Paris not only being from the ambiance [Park VS Cognac, Green Mark Vodka, Creme de peche, lemon, orange].

This rooftop has made their distinguishing mark evident by the name alone. Angelenos have high standards, and here they will not only be met, but surpassed. Whether your desire is to be tucked away in a waterbed cabana or to be dancing the night away to the intoxicating music of one of the nightly DJs, the choice is yours. Feeling a bit indecisive? Let one of the bartenders mix-up a cocktail specifically designed for you when you order the Bartender’s Choice. Lounge by one of the outdoor fireplaces while they get that ready for you.

This rooftop is more than just a Donald Judd inspired pool and some killer booze. The Ace hotel is built upon the 1927 maverick film studio, which was home to the United Artists until only recently. The hotel not only commemorates the building’s unique history, but celebrates it by keeping their calendar fully booked with one-of-a-kind events ranging from Pop-Up art to live bands such as The 86’ed Boys and Dan Digs. Grab a Fairbanks Fizz (pomegranate, ginger, lime, ginger beer – add Vodka or Bourbon) or a Handsome Devil (Bourbon, peach, Alvear px 1927 Sherry, blackberry, Lambrusco) and begin your summer of theatrical bliss.

If every library were like this, I would have gotten better grades during my college years. The Library lies atop the Redbury Hotel in the center of Hollywood. Follow the hardwood hallway into the lavish outdoor courtyard where one can find a breathtaking view scanning the city. Wander further down the halls, preferably with an Old Hollywood in hand, only to find a game of pool awaiting your arrival (Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey, Housemade fig-almond syrup, dash of walnut bitters).

Deceivingly named, this French inspired rooftop is anything but a “small hermitage”. Rather, the Petit Ermitage is the prodigiously complete package. Enjoy private dining in “The Garden’s End”, a therapeutic swim in the saltwater pool – scented with pure damask roses on occasion, enjoy a signature cocktail at the Butterfly Bar – which hosts a Gypsy brunch each weekend – or laze on the Fire-deck for lively conversation or in the Master Lounge some time alone with a classic read.

Hotel Figueroa Humble Luxury

Hotel Figueroa Humble Luxury

This rooftop is site equivalent to the beyond attractive co-worker with gorgeous crystal blue eyes who heirs from a long line of family money, but still bikes to work to save the environment. Swoon. Hotel Figueroa was first built as a woman run and owned YWCA that soon opened its doors to both genders to house guests during the Great Depression. Refurbished into what is now timeless glamour, the Hotel Figueroa was a well-kept secret until only recently. But the word is out, and only kind ones are being spoken. Ornate Spanish Colonial styling bleeds into the Veranda Terrance and Pool Bar, which is accompanied by a lush garden. Centered in downtown LA, this spot is the perfect pre/post cocktail or all-day lounge.
